Subject:	Oh man, am I thankful!

I've finished my essay on Japanese small theatre fandom! :D It was definitely last-minute and pulled directly out of my ass, pardon the imagery! ^^;

But yes, this essay was to fulfill a GenEd requirement toward graduation which normally is completed by taking three classes (together as a "cluster") from a specialization outside of your major. Luckily, because people that study abroad for a year are usually behind in graduation requirements, they set up a system where you can take these classes overseas and when you come back, write a paper, and the classes are considered waived.

Just finished the paper and sent it off to be assessed about an hour ago. When was it due? Now. How long have I had to work on this paper? About 3 months. :D;

I'll post it to my journal for the heck of it, but only after I've given it another edit-check, since it's really not that great of a paper at the moment. f^^;

( More things to be grateful for this Thanksgiving! )

Life's just pretty good right now ~~especially since that 10-page paper is done~~! Thank you, everybody, and Happy Thanksgiving!

Sooo, the problem with my computer seems to be that the harddrive just randomly stopped working. (No, seriously. I was typing up my midterm and decided that I should transfer it to MSWord rather than my textedit program and it froze right as I was clicking on Word. D:) Sooo, it's gotta be replaced.

Good news and bad news:

Good news, Apple is going to replace the harddrive (and my keyboard casing) for free because the problem falls under a certain warranty that says something along the lines of "If your computer just randomly decides that it's not going to work anymore, we'll fix it for you. :D "

Bad news, none of my data is retrievable without paying tons and tons of money to get it extracted from the harddrive. :X So, I'll be starting with a clean slate and tons of GBs of space... but none of my old downloads and fun stuff.

No Japan pictures, no cosplay photos, no finished and in-progress fanfiction, no downloads of pretty-boy photosets, and no music from my itunes library.

Maa, shaanai ssu wa. (o_ _)o

Anyway, I'm over it. Nothing I can do about it, so I might as well just be glad that my computer should be up and running again by this weekend. ^_^b

Hmm, computer is still out of commission for the mo. :X Luckily, I finished my midterm and am doing okay homework-wise without it for the time being. My mom sent my the startup discs for my computer yesterday, so they should be arriving today/tomorrow-ish. Luckily, there's Y-Con to distract me this weekend from a lack of computer! :D

Slight setback in the realm of cosplay, though. Not only did I end up more behind schedule in finishing costumes than I'd hoped, but the fabric paint that I bought to stripe my vibrant hoodie didn't work. x.x; It didn't do anything other than make the pink a bit darker in a few stripes. :X Sooo, quick change in plans sees me sewing on some green ribbon to make the stripes. So far, it's going well and looks good, though I'm a little bothered that you can see a little bit of where I attempted to fabric-paint the thing in the first place. It's not that noticeable, but still... :X

BUT! Everything else is DONE! Very very DONE! The Ciel costume for my language partner looks kick-ass! Bleach/Kuroshitsuji are DONE! So! I just need to get a move on my Shitenhouji jacket. :D Hopefully that'll be done tonight! If not, it'll be done tomorrow morning ~~by which I mean sometime between midnight and when I have to go to class~~! :D;

So, my midterm in my history of Tokyo class is due tomorrow. I've been working on it most of the day. About an hour and a half ago, my computer freezed up. I took all the logical steps to fix it, though they didn't work. Finally, I manually restarted my computer.

And now my computer can't recognise it's own harddrive. =____=

FML.

Back to working on that midterm paper using my roommate's computer, I guess...

Today wasn't a great day, all things considered.

Subject:	Y-Con Plans and Progress

Mood:	sleepy.

Plans are a-changin' for Y-Con, it seems. Our room of 6 became a room of 5 became a room of 4. I don't see it dropping to less than 4, as all 4 of us left have already paid for our registration and everything. f^_^; We'll just have to try to have as much fun as 6 people would! XD

Another wrench thrown into the proverbial works is that my sister has a class that she can't get out of the Friday of Y-Con, which doesn't end until 5pm. =_= This means that she's going to have to miss most of the first day. I'm hoping that her friend can drive her a part of the way here to speed up her arrival that day. (If she takes public transportation the whole way, she'll arrive around 9pm. If she gets driven half-way, which would take about 40 minutes of driving, she'd get to the con at about 7pm. =_= Needless to say, I hope some agreement can be reached.)

Now the fun part about up-coming cons: COSPLAY!

Did I even write up about the first time I went to one of these? XD;;;; Oh well, I have the outline notes written about the other one, so I'll post it eventually.

Quick ~~yeah right~~ recap of the last T2 event that I attended before I left Japan, since I never ended up writing about it earlier. ^^; I warn you, this isn't going to be very good storytelling since I'm tired and I just needed it written.

Have you ever had one of those times where you wake up to your alarm, turn it off with the thought "Oh, okay. I'll get up," close your eyes for one more second, and wake up an hour and a half later?

Crap.

So, I missed the train that I was going to take to go get my car back from my sister. (o_ _)o Luckily, there was a later train for me to take at 9:30am, so I can still get there just barely before noon.

Guh... Way to fail, sleep cycle.

In other news, I just spent tons of money on Tenimyu merchandise and I don't feel a speck of remorse about it! 8D In fact, if there were more things that I'd wanted, I would have spent even more money! :D I guess it's a good thing that I'm not a die-hard Rikkai fan. XD; ~~(Actually, I should probably check to see what magazines come out this month, if I'm interested in spending more money. :O)~~

It hasn't shown up yet, though, which is kinda weird. That's actually why I posted the same comment twice. I typed one in and pressed send, then got redirected, but didn't read the screen much beyond "Okay, it's not saying anything like 「できません」or anything, so it probably went through." So then I refresh the page and my comment wasn't there. So, I decided, "Oh! I guess it didn't go through. Shoulda read the screen more carefully, I guess," and typed out another one. And got the same screen with the message saying "It's been posted! :D" ... So I'm assuming they're stuck in cyberspace just waiting to be listed on his blog so Japanese fans can laugh at the dumb American that can't figure out Ameblo. (＞。＜)~＊

Had a small party with roomies, sister, and a few school/language partner friends yesterday! :D Tried sparkling sake for my birthday toast. Not bad, though I just had a sip and then switched to sparkling grape juice. XD;

Gonna finish my homework fast and then switch to cosplay-making! :O Working on Ciel (for my language partner) and Zaizen (DL6th Isshin Doutai style) for Y-Con. :D <3

Just started work again~ <3 My schedule is fairly up in the air, though, since it'll be changing a lot during the next few weeks. Mainly, it seems that I'll be working on Tuesday mornings and Wednesday afternoons. We also now have a large-screen Mac/Vista dual-operating system computer for the student assistants! 8D <3 They aren't networked together, though, so no filesharing, which means that I still have to use the Vista system, but it's still cool... And big. XD;

Anyway! The point to this post is a plea for coding assistance! :O

I am allowed to be online while on-the-job, if I have no immediate work to do and am just manning the fort and answering phones. However, my supervisor sits directly behind me and, now that I'm working on a humongous screen, I'm made aware that my lj background has kissing boys on it. XD; I'm thinking that I'd like to finally make a switch to a different journal background.

However! Here's where I'm hoping someone else can help me, I have absolutely no idea how to go about it. 8D; Maybe it doesn't even involve much coding? I don't know! ^_^;

I don't need anything fancy, just a cute background image (maybe Tenimyu or *pnish* or something?). In any case, is there some kind soul out there that would be willing to aid me in my quest for a new lj background? ^^; I'll... umm... do something for you? 8D; Fic? Art? Something! :D <3

My dad managed to fix my car!!! :D <3

He took off all the duct tape and managed to fit the underside of my bumper back together. All but one of the screws keeping it on had somehow fallen off, so we went and got more and my dad put it back together!!! <3 <3

So, no more taped-together car and worrying about bottoming out all the time! <3

I'm getting my old job back!!! <3 <3 <3

I apparently had great timing when checking in with my old office (Faculty Affairs on campus), as one of their student assistants is going to have to stop work after this week. So! I get to start work again on Wednesday, a week from now!

Only 5 hours a week so far, but we'll apparently be scheduling me in for more once I start work and we finalize everyone's work times and such. And hey, I'm happy for any money! ~~5 hours is about $45, which would pay for my Japanese pretty boy magazines every month! 8D;~~

I'm excited! Income is good! I haven't had a consistent job in a year and I'm done feeling like a useless lump! Now I can be a useless lump that can at least pay for her own dinner and buy a new DVD or two! 8D;

Dammit, the front of my car is messed up. ;_;

I was driving on the 580 freeway today back toward San Francisco when I kept hearing a scraping noise when I went over bumps and dips. I got off the freeway in Castro Valley and a piece of the underside of my bumper was dragging on the road. O_O

Luckily, there was an Arco gas station across the street and they had stuff that I could temporarily affix it with so I could make it back to SF.

Long story short, duct tape is the most useful thing on the planet! I'm sorry if I ever doubted you, duct tape! TT^TT Now my car is all ghetto and held together with tape. o.o; I'll have to call AAA Monday to see if they can give me the name/place of somewhere where they can fix car bodies.

Other than that, things are going well. Still putting stuff away and everything, but things look pretty good. ^_^

Made it to San Francisco! Got a job interview at the Office of International Programs today, so we'll see how that goes. ^_^

No internet to call my own at the moment, but there is an un-password-protected one floating around the area that I'm mooching off for the time being. It works best in the living room, but I get a tiny tiny bit of reception back here in my room.

Rooming with one other person in this room, Danielle, and another roommate in the neighboring room, Alby! :D I'm also hoping to commandeer our hall closet for an office, but I have to see what Danielle says about that when she gets here. ^_^;

Not much else to report! Moving went well. SF is cold, which I should have remembered. XD;;

Moving back to San Francisco on Thursday to a new apartment! :D Sounds awesome and everything, but I did just realise that I won't have working/reliable internet until my roommates and I buy it (which would be sometime after Thursday). So it shall be good bye to lj and the like after tomorrow until an indeterminate date! D:

Knowing my roommates and me, though, we're probably going to be doing our best to get that internet up and running ASAP. ^^;

When next I update, if all goes well, I should be moved into an apartment up in San Francisco and happily organizing my room and cooking. ^_^ I'm excited. We should have a larger kitchen than I've been used to in all my other living arrangements all these years at SFSU.

Tomorrow is my little sister's 19th birthday! :D <3 She's a little out of it at the moment because she had surgery on her hand and is dealing with pain and pain-killers, but hopefully she'll be more mobile and sentient tomorrow. ^^; Regardless, tomorrow is my last day living in Bakersfield for a school year! <3 <3

Ugh, this post feels boring without some sort of interesting thing to contribute other people's entertainment... >>;;

But seriously, I was two updates behind two days ago so I decided to get on that yesterday... and then he updated 2 more times during the day and 3 more times while I was asleep! (ノ><)ノ

Oh well, at least his posts are absolutely adorable. (*^o^*)
